Vasco in Mill Valley

I have eaten here on and of for almost 15 years. The food has never been good. I went recently hoping it had improved but left with a bad case of heartburn. My wife asked if tiramisu was made in house, and the waiter looked shocked she would ask when the answer was obviously no. They probably buy in a box from costco. All the food was of fairly low quality. Mediocre kitchen. Restaurants like this survive in mill valley simply because they have a captive audience of residents who want to grab dinner in town. It would not last a week in the city. But I'll probably end up here again in 5 years hoping it might be good

Oh my God FANTASTIC! Amazing service and the Proprietor/owner Paul is such a generous and welcoming host! I especially love how there is a Pizza Brick Oven as well as Italian and Grill favorites. It's a perfect place for an extended family meal. My husband and I also celebrated a romantic wedding anniversary here. Full bar and extensive wine list too. Recommended highly!

Great atmosphere, food so-so

We came in an hour late for our reservation, having waited for friends to arrive through customs at the airport. What we needed was good food and a good glass of wine. At Vasco we had both!

Fantastic food and drinks. Awesome service... they easily took care of our group of 15.

The atmosphere & location are were superb. As well as the food & drinks, but the taramisu was even better!

This place is in the heart of Mill Valley. The service was wonderful and they have a great bar and atmosphere.

Call ahead! They couldn’t seat our family of 5 at 6pm on a Monday night. They simply turned us away. We ended up right down the street at Piazza D’Angelo right down the street, and we are happy here!

Affordable and tasty Italian dishes and brick oven pizzas are served here. Vasco is one of the only restaurants in Mill Valley, and by "late" I mean 9:30pm. Forget what their listed closing time says. The kitchen will completely shut down by 9:30 and the restaurant will clear out by 10:00. It's par for the course for sleepy Mill Valley.

A wonderful restaurant which never disappoints. The food is always tasty and their specials update frequently so there is always something new to try. The place itself is really small and there isn't much seating, so make sure to get there early or call ahead for a reservation. Parking in the area is limited too so plan for that as well. The service has always been good and the ambiance is cozy but very classy.

One of my favorite little spots in mill valley. Affordable, good portions, pleasant atmosphere. Will come again!

I eat here a lot since I work right next to it. I must say the service is always good and they keep the place neat consistently. Prices are fair and they serve sizeable portions.

By far the BEST restaurant in Marin.Authentic Italian food , great prices and a nice relaxing bar.Paul , the owner, greets each customer and it’s one of the friendliest hosts you’ll ever meet.My favorites are the LINGUINE with meatballs to die for. The vegetarian PIZZA is delicious and the RISOTTO is out of this world !!!No problem getting parking within a half a block.Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Friendly people & prices but very bland food unfortunately. Had pasta & pizza, both lacked bite and taste.

Dinner last night was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had in Marin. For starters, the wine, a Cab, ordered by the glass was not drinkable. The waiter was kind enough to replace it with another that was almost equally as bad. My entree was a hunk of over cooked salmon served over some rice with a sauce not even comparable to what you would get out of a can purchased at a seven-eleven. Definitely we will NEVER go back. In a word, AWFUL.

I've been coming to vasco is now for probably about 20 years and it's an unpretentious wonderful Italian restaurant just on the corner downtown. Some the waiters have been working there for 20 or 25 years and it's settled into a very respectable position of local restaurants.

Very nice atmosphere, but the food wasn't very good, with the exception of the Tiramisu

Great family owned italian restaurant. Home cooked meals and locals bar that looks out over the plaza! You can't go wrong with this choice.

Tasty Italian food at reasonable prices in a cozy setting.

I sat at the bar and had a lovely experience with the bartender, who offered great wine recommendations, along with a taste, which not every place does but is always hugely appreciated. Ordered the calamari, which was decent, and the gnocchi, which was okay. Would like to go back and try some of the other dishes. If you are not familiar with the area, be prepared for difficult parking.

Consistently good food and cocktails with fair prices. Located in the heart of beautiful downtown Mill Valley. Enjoy!

Great food and drinks and the owner is a great guy...

Three of us arrived early and decided to sit at the bar to have a few drinks and get some appetizers. The bartender was very friendly and let me sample some wine each time I got a new glass. The bruschetta was delicious and the caprese salad was good. They included cucumber slices which was an added bonus. Dinner was also excellent

Great food but our waiter placed the wrong order therefore we had to wait for my guest to be served before we can enjoy dinner together.

Great little trattoria style restaurant. Owner very involved and makes a welcoming place with a succinct menu and good quality.

I went there with my husband, mother-in-law and her husband. The meal and the service were really good. Everyone enjoyed their meal, so extra points for me for choosing the right place for a not so often family dinner. Would definitely come back.

Bad service but food is OK

This restaurant is a little treasure: they always do their best to find seating no matter how busy they are, the food is consistently very good, the specials each night keep it interesting, the service is fast and always polite yet you never feel rushed out of there, and the prices are accessible for almost everyone. To top it off, the owner is almost always there on the floor, which really personalizes the place and also makes it run so well. Thank you, Vasco. I voted you Best Restaurant in Mill Valley this year!!!

Great food, service and atmosphere. The bonus is great value too.

I find myself in complete bliss at this establishment. Paul is respectful owner, all the employees are prompt and educated on all the dishes. Cocktails are spot on and I’ve had almost every dish on the menu over the last year. Cocktail, antipasti misti salami, then entree of your choice..... you won’t be disappointed.
